Profile of Dr Mohammad Belayet Hossain

Dr Mohammed Belayet Hossain was born on the 1st June in the year 1962 in Hazipur, a village of the Upazila Begumganj, in the District of Noakhali, Bangladesh.

His father, Late Hazi Kamal Uddin, was a Heroic Freedom Fighter during our liberation war 1971. His mother Mrs. Monoara Begum is an ideal housewife.

In his academic career, Dr Mohammed Belayet Hossain earned honours and masters degree in 1st class in zoology from the university of Dhaka . He did his MBA in 1st class from Norther University, Dhaka. He has been awarded a PhD by Jahangirnagar University. He participated a training program in Harvard Kennedy School, USA in 2021. Belayet Hossain Joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Admin Cadre) on 15 February 1988. He left his stamp of efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism wherever he worked in whatever position during his illustrious career. As a Secretary he worked for two ministries, the Ministry of Jute and Textile and the Bridge Division, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. He retired from service on 31st May 2022.

Dr Belayet visited many countries either as a member or head of the Bangladesh delegations. Besides, he also participated in many seminars, conferences, and workshops representing of the government. China, India, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, Bhutan, Singapore, New Zealand, Sweden, France, Germany, the United States, Thailand, Vietnam, and Lao PDR were among the nations he visited.

Dedication and Dynamism can make difference in leadership. Dr Belayet proved it in his career. He worked in different capacities in policy formulation and implementation where he predominantly focused on the integrity in his 34 years career of bureaucratic service with utmost diligence and sincerity.

Dr Belayet’s spouse Syeda Sharmin Belayet is an ideal house maker. She has all along been an inspiration to her husband in all his efforts and challenges in life. Side by side she helped grooming their two blessed sons: Engineer Salim Sadman and Engineer Sakir Adnan with the best possible care to achieve human perfection.
